India's para-athletes continued to shine at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, delivering impressive performances across various events on Day 6. The day saw India adding to its medal tally, with notable achievements in para-shooting, para-archery, and para-athletics.

Para-Shooting

India's shooting stars, Avani Lekhara and Mona Agarwal, competed in the Women's 50m Rifle 3 Position SH1 event. Avani, who has already made her mark with multiple Paralympic medals, advanced to the finals with a score of 1159 in the qualification round, securing 7th place. However, in a highly competitive final, she finished just outside the medal positions in 5th place with a score of 420.6. Mona Agarwal, who earned a bronze in the 10m event earlier, finished 13th in the qualification round and did not advance to the final.

Para-Archery

In para-archery, Pooja represented India in the Women's Individual Recurve Open event. She advanced to the quarter-finals with a convincing 6-0 victory over Turkey's Yagmur Sengul in the Round of 16. However, her journey ended in the quarter-finals, where she narrowly lost 4-6 to China's Wu Chunyan, missing out on a chance to compete for a medal.

Para-Athletics

The highlight of the day came from Deepthi Jeevanji, who secured a bronze medal in the Women's 400m T20 finals. Deepthi, a world record holder, delivered a strong performance in this highly anticipated event, adding another medal to India's tally. Her accomplishment not only underscores her talent but also strengthens India's position in the athletics competitions.

Looking Ahead

As the Paris 2024 Paralympics continue, India's para-athletes are poised to achieve even greater success. With several medal events yet to come, the nation remains hopeful and supportive of its athletes, celebrating each triumph and encouraging their efforts on the global stage.
